Oil on canvas

I saw a pigeon, it fell into the river. Crows circled above it, but it was just carried away by the current, the crows kept pecking and clawing it... I stood on the bank and saw its eyes, it saw me too. It knew it was over, and so did I. I just stood there and watched the water wash away this hellish scene...

What could I have done for it?
